Coming off the back of a monumental win at home against Streatham, the Phantoms knew that a win would guarantee second place in the league and a play off place.

With a lot being at stake for both sides, the game started pretty evenly. It was a physical from the puck drop and with less than a minute played, Streatham gave away a penalty. Phantoms had several shots in this period on the Streatham net but unfortunately could not beat the netminder.

It was Streatham that struck the first blow and took the lead. This spurred them on and within quick succession, they added another 2 goals to the score line. The first period ended 3-0 to Streatham.

Phantoms knew they needed to up their game in the second period and they did not disappoint. Phantoms Captain Sara Dawsons pass found Ruby Allen who with the form she has been on this season was not going to miss.

The Phantoms seemed to find their rhythm and took the game to Streatham. It didn’t take long for Hana Meszarosova and Kodie Duguid to link up with Kodie shooting her signature unstoppable shot. It fired into the top left corner leaving no chance for the netminder.

Streatham did get one back whilst on the power play making the score 4-2 at the end of the second period.

With everything still to play for both sides upped their games once again. At this point, it seemed to be a battle of the defenders.

Phantoms defence women Emily Lock, Kodie Duguid, Emma Mccarthy and Stacie Horn all put in a sensational performance. Each and every player worked extremely hard for each other but unfortunately it wasn’t to be. Streatham secured the win with a 5th and final goal making the final score 5-2.

To say this is Phantoms first season together, I don’t think anyone expected for the team to do so well. Everyone involved should be incredibly proud of themselves.

Player of the match was awarded to Emily Lock.
