Date: 26 November 2023

Location: Streatham Ice and Leisure

Faceoff Time: 4:30 pm

Period one

In their third game of the season, the Peterborough Phantoms took on the Streatham Storm at Streatham Ice and Leisure. The game was delayed by the late arrival of the referee but the puck finally dropped at 5:15pm. The Streatham Storm set the pace with Yeuk Ting Lau (#16) scoring at 4:28 in the first period. The Phantoms' goalie, Katie Plumb, was put to the test, facing a total of 42 shots over the evening. The Phantoms weren’t taking any chances and responded with Ruby Allen (#9) finding the net at 13:46. The physicality of the period led to a hooking penalty against Streatham's Parris Moore (#81) at 17:55, ending the first period 1-1.

Period two

The second period saw plenty of hits from both sides, with nothing being called by the referee, resulting in plenty of noise coming from both benches. A 0-0 period left it all to play for in the third.

Period three

The third period saw Phantoms Ruby Allen score again, this time assisted by Caitlin Barraclough (#27) at 45:15. This put Streatham behind and made Phantoms work harder to defend their lead. At 58:32 Streatham pulled Cudini for a 6 on 5 attempt at the draw. Phantoms bench reacted by calling a timeout at 59:12 but the empty net paid off for Streatham when Sinead Jennings (#72), with help from Zuzana Dobrovolna (#44) scored the equaliser at 59:31. The Streatham goalie faced 33 shots from the Phantoms but time was up and the game ended 2-2.

The draw was a fair reflection of the evenly matched teams.

The Phantoms, now with a taste of this season's tough competition, are ready for the challenges ahead. They aim to take their strong defensive play and effective attack into the next game, where they'll continue to fight for the top spot in the league.

Final Score:

Peterborough Phantoms: 2

Streatham Storm: 2

Player of the Game:

Ruby Allen (#9), who scored both goals for the Phantoms, was named Player of the Game for her outstanding performance.
