The Phantoms hosted Streatham Storm in their first meeting of the season.
The game started quickly with both sides trying to find their feet. Both the Phantoms and Streatham put pressure on the netminders but they both stood strong. The first period ended 0-0 but some lovely hockey was played.

When the second period started both teams seemed to up their game! Streatham were first to strike, whilst on a power play Diana Connor got the first goal of the game. The momentum continued in Streatham’s favour and Eva Harrison got a second for the away side.
2-0 down but not out, the Phantoms showed their spirit and skill. It did not take long for Kodie Duguid to get one back for the home side, when she received Aimee Neaverson’s pass as she has done many times before this season. The second period ended 1-2 in favour of the visitors. A dramatic turn of events and due to a technicality, a Streatham player was ejected from the game.

The third and final period was set to be a nail biting one. With both teams wanting the win, it was a tense period. The Phantoms struck first with Ruby Allen picking up the puck from Kodie Duguid and lifting the puck beautifully past the netminder.

The game seemed to be very evenly matched when Streatham got another goal through Diana Connor. Going behind again was tough for the Phantoms but they did not give up! Their efforts payed off and Kodie Duguid added a second goal to her game.

Being level wasn’t enough for the Phantoms who continued to press forward. The pressure would eventually pay off when Ruby Allen got her second of the game to put the Phantoms in the lead for the first time. With everything still to play for, Streatham came out hard at the Phantoms but the defence held strong!
