It’s a new season and the Phantoms had some new players eager to get started!
It was a good start for the Phantoms who put a lot of pressure on the Oxford Netminder. However, against the run of play Oxford took an early lead.
This didn’t phase the Phantoms, who had a goal disallowed but continued to press. Their efforts paid off when Ruby Allen got an unassisted goal levelling the score. The first period ended 1-1.

At the start of the second, both sides gave it their all to gain the advantage. Defence woman Emily Lock skated hard and showed her skill, putting it on a plate for Laura Broadley, who didn’t hesitate to put the Phantoms in front.
Ruby Allen added another goal to her tally when she showed her tenaciousness in getting the puck in the back of the net. A lot of passion from both sides showing what it means to play hockey.
Oxford pressed the Phantoms and scored 2 goals levelling the score. This was not good enough for the Phantoms and whilst on the power play, Laura Broadly added another goal to give Phantoms the lead. The second period ends with the Phantoms 1 goal ahead.
