Before the game even started, the Phantoms were only given a small amount of time to warm up after their long journey. The start was further delayed due to the referees not being ready on time.
Despite the journey, Phantoms switched on from the first drop of the puck, with Ruby Allen firing it into the back of the net.
Sara Dawson came off the bench in a perfectly timed change. With her skilful puck handling, she put herself 1:0 against the goalie. She placed the puck just over the leg pads.
Forward Aimee Neaverson showed her strength weaving in and out of several players. Finishing with a lovely wrist shot to the top right corner, giving the netminder no chance.
The first period ended 0-3 to the Phantoms.
Soon into the second period Ruby Allen passed in front of the net to Laura Broadley, whose quick back hand shot to the bottom left corner snuck the puck in between the goalies skates and the post.
Despite many more attempts on goal, the second period ended 0-4 in favour of the Phantoms.
Aimee Neaverson showed her skill yet again and added her second goal of the game. A perfect way to start the third period.
Hana Meszarosova got her first goal as the Phantoms captain with a perfectly placed top right corner.
Aimee Neaverson and Jenna Clarke kept the netminder and defence busy, giving Sara Dawson the opportunity to get her second of the game.
It was quickly followed by a second for Hana Meszarosova, skating around the net, tricking the netminder and chipping the puck into the right corner.
The 9th and final goal of the game came from Phantoms forward Sarah Rees whose intelligent positioning left her unmarked and able to slot the puck past the netminder.
Player of the match went to Sara Dawson.
