Fresh off their season-opening victory, the Peterborough Phantoms arrived in Chelmsford, ready to showcase their dominance against the Chelmsford Pythons. The encounter, full of intense action and strategic play, saw the Phantoms secure an 8-2 victory.
Period 1:
The Phantoms initiated the scoring onslaught as Aimee Neaverson (#66), capitalising on a breakaway, carried the puck behind the net and finished with a skilful backhand into the bottom corner at 10:27. Soon after, Hana Mészárošová(#15) took advantage of a precise pass from Kodie Duguid (#5), hammering a shot into the goal at 11:04, signalling the Phantoms' offensive intentions.

Period 2:
Undeterred by the pressure, the Phantoms doubled down on their aggressive assault. Kodie Duguid (#5), after a seamless pass from Hana Mészárošová (#15), sent a blistering shot over the goalie's head at 24:11. The team's momentum surged witha breakaway goal from Ruby Allen (#9) at 28:48 after she managed to fight off three oppositional players. A special milestone was achieved by Caitlin Barraclough (#27) at 30:11, who scored her first-ever goal in senior women's hockey, demonstrating her readiness for the higher level of play. Amidst the action, a power-play opportunity arose from a Python's misstep, and Kodie Duguid (#5) didn't hesitate, securing her second goal at 31:36. The Phantoms incurred a bench penalty at 34:53 but quickly reestablished control.

Period 3:
Tension escalated in the final stretch, marked by penalties against Stacie Horn (#13) for high sticking at 48:49 and Ruby Allen (#9) at 50:56. Despite being down a player, Hana Mészárošová (#15) showcased her defensive skills, gaining possession of the puck and scoring shorthanded at 49:08. The Pythons seized their moment, scoring twice, but Sarah Rees (#50) responded in kind with a swift rebound shot at 59:28, assisted by Sara Dawson (#3), cementing an 8-2 victory.

Penalties:
The game wasn't without its challenges. The Phantoms faced a bench penalty for too many players at 34:53, a high stick penalty committed by Stacie Horn (#13) at 48:49, and another high stick penalty by Ruby Allen (#9) at 50:56. These moments of adversity tested the team's resilience, but the Phantoms managed to navigate through these difficulties with strategic discipline, even capitalising on a shorthanded situation.
Chelmsford Performance:
Despite being under siege for most of the match, the Pythons' Katy Bull (#10), assisted by Lily Bryant (#97), and Xanthe Aldwinckle-Povey (#62) broke through with goals at 47:10 and 58:02 respectively, refusing to cede the game without a fight. Their efforts, however, were overshadowed by the overwhelming force of the Phantoms.
With this victory under their belt, the Phantoms are set to continue their campaign, building on their current momentumwhen they play their next game which is away vs Streatham on 26th November.
