With Swindon being top of the league and undefeated, the Phantoms knew that they would have a tough game in store.
Swindon started strong with Nora Egri opening the scoring within 2 minutes. This early goal did not phase the Phantoms and they worked extremely hard to keep Swindon at bay. Phantoms got a few shots on the Swindon goal but were unfortunately were not rewarded for their efforts. Swindon managed to score 2 more goals before the end of the first period leaving the score 3-0.
The start of the second period saw Swindon come out strong once again challenging the Phantoms. Netminder Katie Plumb made an impressive 29 saves in the second period for the Phantoms. The second period came to and end with Swindon extending their lead to 9-0.
With the final period underway, Phantoms continued to give everything to the game. Due to an awkward fall, Phantoms lost one of their players who had to be assisted off the ice and taken to hospital. Even after this, the Phantoms did not give up and played their hearts out until the final buzzer.
The game ended 16-0 to Swindon as they continue their 8 game winning streak and have scored an impressive 83 goals. Although it was a tough result for Phantoms, their team spirit and drive to work hard for each other was impeccable.
Player of the match was awarded to Netminder Katie Plumb.
The Phantoms next game is on the 26th February at home to Cardiff.
