With the Phantoms putting in a dominant performance in their last game at home to Streatham, they knew not to underestimate the opposition.

The game started off with both sides having some strong chances. You could tell that it meant a lot to the teams who tried to settle into their own playing rhythms.

The Phantoms kept the press going forward, but unfortunately against the run of play, Streatham snuck one in against the Phantoms. The first period ended 1-0 to the home side.

Both sides came out strong in the second. Some good end to end hockey was played, however the final pass just seemed to be alluding the Phantoms who dominated possession.

Phantoms defence showed their strength and continued to make it hard for Streatham to get through. This was assisted by the forwards who came back to assist in their strong lines to help out. Streatham took an opportunity to add a second goal and the second period ended 2-0.

With everything still to be played for, the Phantoms knew that they had to give it their all in the 3rd period. Streatham had an impressive 11 shots on the Phantoms netminder Katie Plumb in the period but she stood strong and saved them all!

This period was definitely more physical that the previous 2 with both sides conceding penalties. The game ended 2-0 to Streatham, a tough loss for the Phantoms to take but they should be proud of the performance that they put in.

Player of the match was Aimee Neaverson.

The Phantoms next game is on the 5th February at home to Cardiff.
