It was the last game of the season before Christmas for the Phantoms and they hosted Oxford Midnight star. With it being a high scoring game in their previous encounter, it was set to be a good game.
The game started with both sides being evenly matched. The Phantoms showed their excellent team work with the defence standing strong and picking out some beautiful passes to the forwards to go on the attack. The Phantoms came close a few times and tried to get into a good rhythm in the game.

Oxford however defended well and the Phantoms could not break through. The first period ended 0-0.
Both sides knew that they had to up their games to get the goal. It was the period for penalties with the Phantoms and Oxford receiving 2 penalties each. With that being said, the Phantoms continued to press and their efforts finally paid off.
Seeing an opportunity to shoot, Emily Lock flew into the attacking zone and saw a break in the Oxford defence. She took her opportunity and shot, beating the Oxford netminder. A deserving goal for Emily who has highlighted her skill both as an attacker and defender.

The second period ended 1-0 in favour of the Phantoms.
With the score being so close, it was a exciting third period. Whilst on the power play, Phantoms Kodie Duguid took a shot from just inside the attacking zone. Although the netminder saved it, it fell perfectly for Laura Broadley who was not going to miss the chance to add to her impressive goal tally so far this season.

Oxford did get one back but the Phantoms defence stood strong to take home all of the points. The final score was a 2-1 win for the Phantoms.
